The mission of The Elizabeth Peabody House is to support families in our community in reaching their full potential through early childhood education, youth development and enrichment, and family services.

Camp Gannett is a summer enrichment program located on the south shore of Lake Massapoag in Sharon, Massachusetts with a daily shuttle from Greater Boston. New Interim Director Named at The Elizabeth Peabody House

The Elizabeth Peabody House Board of Directors has named Thomas M. Colligan as interim Executive Director of its 116-year-old non-profit. He assumes his position on Monday.

“We’re excited about Tom leading the organization until a new executive director is selected,” said Board President John H. Sanders, Jr. “Tom brings over 30 years of senior non-profit leadership experience, and we are lucky to have him at the helm.”

Colligan came to the Board’s attention by way of Third Sector New England, a consulting group that provides interim management and consulting services to non-profit organizations. He succeeds Selvin L. Chambers, III who led the Peabody House for four years.

Colligan has extensive leadership credentials, including roles with YMCAs in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Upstate New York, as well as with the entity’s Chicago-based national offices. His professional experience also includes being a senior vice president at the Arthritis Foundation in Atlanta, as well as serving as a consultant in financial development and motivational messaging. His non-profit experience also includes time with The House of the Seven Gables Settlement Association, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, and United South End Settlements of Boston.

Colligan is based in Torrington, Connecticut and holds a bachelor’s degree from Goddard College and a master’s degree in education from Springfield College.

2012 Peabody House Alumni Luncheon Photo Gallery

Former students of The Elizabeth Peabody House gathered at The West End Museum for this year's alumni luncheon. The featured speaker at the Tuesday, June 5th noontime event was Emerson College professor Megan Marshall. The Pulitzer Prize finalist for her book The Peabody Sisters, is a world authority on Elizabeth Palmer Peabody. In addition to Marshall's remarks, luncheon guests were given a tour of the museum which prominently features photography of activities through the years of the 116-year-old settlement house.

2012 4-Who-Care Awards Benefit Photo Gallery

The 2012 4-Who-Care Awards benefit of The Elizabeth Peabody House was masterfully hosted by WBZ TV news reporter Paul Burton. The Thursday, May 3rd event was held at the Holiday Inn Boston at Beacon Hill. Among the award winners were the late Gaetano Privitera, Sharon Community Television, State Street Global Advisors, Dr. Nicole Prudent and the Chinese Immigrant Student Leadership program.

Alumni, family and friends gathered in Sharon at Camp Gannett for the 2012 Alumni Picnic. The Sunday, June 24th get together brought back many from Boston's West End who used to summer at Camp Gannett.
